Beginners’ Modern Jive

 

This workshop is intended for those who have never danced Modern Jive before, or who have recently begun (as a guide, within the last 6 months).

 

Within 4 fun hours we will cover all the basics you need to begin to be able to partner dance to all kinds of music, and to give you a good foundation for the future.  You will be amazed what you can achieve in such a short space of time!

 

You don’t need to bring a partner, and you don’t need to have any specialist dancing clothes or shoes (although smooth soled shoes that can slide a little on a smooth wooden floor would be helpful).

 

In the evening in the same venue (8pm-3am) we have what is known as a ‘Freestyle’ which is basically a dance evening where everyone can practice what they have learned.  We have 2 rooms for dancing, and in the early part of the evening (8pm-10pm) the second room will be the place specifically intended for you to gain more confidence, with people to help you should you need it, before hitting the ‘main’ room. 

 

The workshop will also be very useful for those who have danced Modern Jive before, as we will cover some hints and tips that are not usually covered in the course of most larger classes.

 

Also, some people ‘get stuck’ in their dancing because they have inadvertently picked up bad habits and/or technique, which then get re-inforced by repeating the same mistakes again and again, and which then hinder any improvement.  If you think this may have happened to you, come along.

We will also point you in the direction of Modern Jive Dance Organisations locally where you will be able to continue your dancing on a more regular basis.

OK… so he may not lift you up on his shoulders like in the picture on the left for this workshop….. but it does show that BlueShoes is definitely worth his reputation on the social and competition circuit for his style and ‘flashy moves’. 

 

BlueShoes will do what it says on the tin…. He’ll teach you some flashy, attention grabbing, moves! 

 

This workshop is designed for competent dancers (ie good intermediate level/advanced).  There will be some dips and drops as part of the workshop.  This workshop will be gender balanced with a maximum of 12 ‘couples’.  Book early to get your place by e-mailing on the address below.!
